A Life Marked by Injustice and Heartbreak – Now, Joshua Has Just One Month Left Unless We Act Now!

For Joshua Carter-Hewins, life has been anything but fair. Born behind bars because his mother was wrongfully convicted of a crime she didn’t commit, his journey began in chains—and now, at just 27, it may end in a hospital bed unless urgent action is taken.
Joshua’s life story is the kind that grips you, the kind you wish was just fiction. But it’s painfully real. His mother, Annette, was three months pregnant with him when she was accused of setting a fire that tragically took the lives of a young mother and her two children in 1995. She was locked away, fighting to prove her innocence, while Joshua entered this world in the confines of a prison cell—separated from his mother, who had been condemned for a crime she never committed.
Though Annette was eventually exonerated, the damage was done. Her wrongful conviction left a deep scar on their family. Joshua grew up carrying the weight of his mother’s trauma and the lasting impact of a system that had failed them both. For Joshua, this was not just a stolen childhood—it was a haunting legacy of loss, injustice, and struggle.
In 2021, just as Joshua seemed to find his footing, he was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, a chronic disease that came as yet another blow. But it wasn’t over. Soon after, he developed severe liver complications and underwent a transplant. His recovery was fleeting. In the summer of this year, he received the most devastating diagnosis of all—Burkitt lymphoma, an aggressive and deadly cancer. Despite the brutal chemotherapy treatments, his condition has continued to deteriorate. Doctors now tell him he has just a month left to live unless he receives urgent, life-saving treatment not available through the NHS.
Joshua’s family has been chasing every possibility to fund this new treatment through the NHS, but they fear he simply does not have the time to wait for approvals. His consultant is working tirelessly, but the most promising path now lies in private care. This route, though, comes at a staggering cost. Joshua’s wife, Beth, shared: “Going completely private comes at a HUGE cost, but you can’t put a price on Josh’s life. Please, PLEASE help us save Josh’s life; we don’t have much time.”
The family is reaching out to everyone who can help them get Joshua the treatment he desperately needs to live. For more on Joshua’s journey and to hear Beth’s plea, you can watch this TikTok video that captures the urgency of their situation. – https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGdLNTcJA/
Joshua’s family has set up a GoFundMe page with a target of £100,000 to make this private treatment a reality. Thanks to early support, they have already raised £50,000, but time is running out and they need your help. This is a race against the clock to help a young man who has faced unimaginable hardship since birth. It’s not just about survival; it’s about giving Joshua a chance to finally live beyond the shadow of tragedy. In a world where he’s always had to be the strong one, he needs others to be strong for him now.
Every donation counts in this fight to save Joshua’s life. Let’s give him the chance he deserves.
