A Pigeon’s Perfect Getaway: Flori’s Stay at The Waterfront Lodges, Coventry

Traveling with pets is becoming more common, but what about traveling with a pet pigeon? That’s exactly what we did this past weekend when we took Flori, our free-roaming, news-featured, slightly spoiled pigeon, on her first-ever holiday. Our destination? The Waterfront Lodges in Coventry—a hidden gem that turned out to be an animal lover’s dream.

Flori: Not Your Average Pigeon

Flori isn’t just any pigeon. She has free reign of our home, sharing it with her feisty (and completely unhinged) pigeon friend Rosie Cheeks, a parrot named Joey, and our dogs Poppy and Cookie. There are no cages, no restrictions—just a little flock of chaos living their best lives.

Unfortunately, Rosie Cheeks is far too much of a wild child to join us on trips (think untamed spirit meets mischievous toddler energy), so this adventure was all about Flori.

Convincing a Hotel to Host a Pigeon

Now, asking a hotel if they allow pets is one thing. Asking if they allow a pet pigeon? That’s a different story. When I first contacted The Waterfront Lodges, I could almost hear the hesitation in their response. I mean, how often do they get requests for pigeon-friendly accommodation?

But after a little persuasion (and some reassurance that Flori is more of a VIP guest than a flight risk), they said yes! And just like that, Flori was about to experience her first taste of holiday luxury.

A Weekend of Exploration and VIP Treatment

From the moment we arrived, The Waterfront Lodges proved to be the perfect setting. The peaceful surroundings, the animal-friendly atmosphere, and the genuinely welcoming staff made us feel at home instantly.

Flori wasted no time settling in. We enjoyed breakfast together, took scenic walks through the countryside and parks, and even met the resident animals at the lodges. Flori, ever the social butterfly, loved every second of it.

The staff completely embraced her, showering her with seeds, attention, and plenty of admiration. It wasn’t long before she became the unofficial star of the lodges, with guests and staff alike stopping by to meet the “celebrity pigeon.”

A Unique Stay for Animal Lovers

Aside from the fantastic service, The Waterfront Lodges is truly a hidden gem. If you love animals, nature, and a peaceful getaway, this is the place to be.

One unexpected highlight? The barking turkeys that greeted us every time we left the lodge. Yes, barking turkeys. It’s safe to say this stay had its fair share of quirky moments.

The Famous Barking Turkeys!

Final Verdict: 10/10 – Pigeon-Approved!

Traveling with Flori was an experience I’ll never forget, and The Waterfront Lodges made it all the more special. Their willingness to accommodate our feathery travel companion, combined with the stunning location and warm hospitality, earns them a solid 10/10 in my book.

Would we return? Absolutely! Flori is already planning her next trip (probably with a more extravagant travel wardrobe).

So, if you’re looking for a pet-friendly retreat that goes beyond the usual dog-friendly stays, give The Waterfront Lodges a try. Who knows? You might just meet a celebrity pigeon while you’re there. 🥹❤️
